The all-important aim in Christian Meditation is to allow God’s mysterious presence within us to become more and more not only a reality but the reality which gives meaning, shape and purpose to everything we do, to everything we are.
John Main OSB, an Irish Benedictine monk (1926-1982), started the first Christian Meditation Centre in London, which soon developed into the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) www.wccm.org
About Our Ministry
In the stillness of the Church of St Bernadette, a diverse group of people finds a shared purpose. They are not defined by age or background but by a collective desire for a deeper connection with Christ. Each week, they gather to practice Christian meditation (CM), a quiet prayer tradition that harkens back to the 4th-century desert fathers.
But their journey doesn't end with silence. This ministry is a vibrant community. Over shared meals in the church canteen every quarter, they forge bonds of friendship and support, sharing stories and laughter. A library of media resources offers resources for personal growth, a testament to their commitment to nurturing their faith. Through their quiet devotion and communal warmth, they are joyfully witnessing to Christ's love. They are becoming missionary disciples, their peaceful presence and welcoming spirit drawing others into a community where Christ is truly present, not just in prayer but in every shared moment.

Testimonials
Through the weekly group meditation and self-practices at home, I begin to discover that it has impacted me in many ways, namely, keeping myself in harmony through complete silence and stillness by harnessing my attention just to God. I repeat the mantra to achieve this blissful peace. Group dynamic helps me and the group to achieve discipline in practising Christian Meditation. I am sure many of us look forward to our weekly meetings. Christian Meditation also brings me closer to God. It is a covenant between God and me. The greatest impact: I found relaxation, peace and harmony. I also found great fellowship amongst the group.”

“Being part of the volunteer team at Christian Meditation booth (at St Bernadette’s Church Food and Fun Fair) helped me to engage in more conversations whilst showcasing how proud of a meditation member I am. I’m thankful for the entirety of the fair and I hope to experience more! Christian meditation is truly a blessing to me.”

I have the privilege of participating in the recent mini pilgrimage to celebrate the 30th anniversary event with our St Bernadette Church meditators. While I may be a rookie who just joined the group about a month ago and may not know everyone, I did not feel any sense of "loneliness" during the walk. In fact, I felt a sense of connectedness as we shared our meditation journey; regardless of whether it is 30 years or 30 days in my case. The biggest takeaway for me was Father Eugene Vaz’s sharing. He reminded us that God has called each one by name to be part of this community; and He is a faithful God. Through meditation we get to spend quality time in the presence of Our Lord and experience His loving embrace; just like the sunshine that shone on our faces during the mini pilgrimage walk. Happy 30th anniversary once again!
