SEASON OF CREATION 2026

1 September to 4 October

From the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on 1 September to the Feast of St Francis of Assisi on 4 October, the Church observes the Season of Creation, a time to deepen our gratitude for God's gift of creation and reflect on our responsibility to care for our common home.

Inspired by Laudato Si' and in this Franciscan Jubilee Year, our parish invites you to a month of prayer, reflection, learning and encounter, beginning with the Mass for the Care of Creation and extending into two special evenings with Fr Joe Nathan OFM exploring St Francis, creation and the human journey.

Mass for the Care of Creation
We begin the Season with the Church's special Mass for the Care of Creation, with prescribed prayers and readings, giving thanks for God's gift of creation and renewing our call to care faithfully for what He has entrusted to us.

St Francis of Assisi & the Canticle of the Creatures

In these two sessions, Fr Joe Nathan OFM invites you to discover the Franciscan vision of God, creation and human fraternity, and explore the Canticle of the Creatures alongside Homer’s Odyssey—two very different visions of our human journey, longing, identity and place in creation.

Come and discover how Francis invites us to see creation differently, encounter others as brothers and sisters, and care for our common home.

Through the Season, parishioners will also be invited to discover more about Laudato Si' and Care for Creation through parish reflections and resources, and to become more attentive to God's presence and gifts in the world around us.
