Catholic Education Sunday

Many Schools. One Catholic Family.

Every Catholic school has its own story.

Some were founded by religious sisters, others by religious brothers or missionary priests. Each carries its own charism, traditions and heritage, but all share the same mission: to form young people in faith, wisdom, service and love.

This Catholic Education Sunday, we give thanks for the gift of Catholic education and the many educators, parents, priests, religious and parish communities who continue to nurture the next generation.

This year, we are especially delighted to welcome the students of CHIJ Kellock at our 23 August, 10.00am Mass, where they will serve and participate in the liturgy together with our parish community.

The Church has always recognised that raising children in the faith is not the work of schools alone. It is a shared mission between home, parish and school, each playing a unique role in helping young people encounter Christ and grow as His disciples.

As our parish continues to journey under the theme "Creating Christ Encounters: Many Parts, One Body," Catholic Education Sunday reminds us that every Catholic school, every family and every parish forms part of one Body, united in Christ and called to build His Kingdom together.

Join us in praying for our students, teachers, school leaders, parents and all who serve in Catholic education.

PRAYER OF BLESSING FOR CATHOLIC EDUCATORS

For Catholic Education Sunday (22–23 August 2026), before the Final Blessing, please

invite all educators in schools, pre-schools and tertiary institutions (not just Catholic

schools) to stand for the Prayer of Blessing, written by His Eminence Cardinal William

Goh:

Lord Jesus, you are our Good Shepherd.

Pour forth your Spirit on all Catholic educators,

whom you have called and chosen.

Give them a mind of wisdom and discernment,

a heart full of love and compassion,

a face of gentleness and patience,

a voice to teach and encourage,

and hands to comfort and lead.

Guide and empower them to be good role models,

to inspire and shepherd those entrusted to their care.

Strengthen them in adversity to be steadfast in the Gospel values.

Bless also those in leadership roles:

strengthen their faith and lead them in your footsteps of servant leadership,

so that through their stewardship,

those in their charge may come to know your love and salvation.

May our Catholic schools be beacons for formation,

where men and women of integrity and talent are raised,

to further your loving purpose of redemption

by their contributions to the world. Amen.
