Advent is a four-week season in the Christian calendar that prepares believers for the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth and anticipates His Second Coming.
Meaning of Advent
• "Advent" means "arrival" or "coming." It refers to both the first coming of Christ at Christmas and the second coming at the end of time.
• It’s a time of expectant waiting, reflection, and preparation—not just for a holiday, but for the presence of God in the world.
Advent invites Christians to:
• Slow down and reflect in a season often dominated by consumerism.
• Prepare hearts for Christ’s coming—not just historically, but spiritually and personally.
• Live in hope for the renewal of the world through God’s promises.
The sacrament of reconciliation is a way to prepare our hearts for Christ coming.
