About Our Ministry
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.”
Colossians 3:16
We come together as a community to sing praises to God, encouraging active participation and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through music.
More than just singing or playing instruments during Mass, music ministry is about touching hearts,
inspiring faith, and drawing people closer to God through the power of music.
Our members come from all walks of life and bring with them a wide range of musical experience, from enthusiastic beginners to seasoned choristers and musicians. Regardless of background or skill level, what matters most is a heart that desires to serve the Lord with music.

Testimonials
I first joined the choir for selfish reasons. I loved singing and found comfort in hiding my voice. But God transformed my heart, showing me that the gifts He gave were not for myself alone, but to lead others to Him. Now I sing boldly, each hymn a prayer of joy and gratitude, seeking to draw others into His embrace. All glory to God, who turned my selfish love for singing into a desire to serve.

There was a time when I longed to grow closer to Christ and lead my children in the Catholic faith, but I felt lost and unsure where to begin. I couldn’t sing or read music, and the thought of joining the choir was scary. One Sunday, I felt a gentle nudge in my heart and walked up to the choir loft. I was nervous, but they welcomed me with warmth and open arms. Slowly, each hymn became more than a song. It became my prayer. I felt God’s presence like never before. I also found more than a place to serve. Now I found a family in Christ.
- Judith, Chorister
I joined the choir because my parents encouraged me, since I enjoyed singing. Over time, I realised it was more than a hobby. It was a gift from God to serve and praise Him. Singing at Mass taught me to truly believe the words I sing, and I’ve seen how music, a universal language, touches hearts and conveys truths beyond words. This ministry has strengthened my faith and blessed me with a community to grow and journey with in serving God.

I used to be shy and full of stage fright, and the thought of the whole congregation hearing me play made my hands tremble. One Sunday, the organist didn’t show up. I was the only one in the choir who could play the accompaniment. “Jialat,” I thought. I prayed and asked the Lord to take over, which He really did. Since that day, every time I serve in the mass, I’m reminded of how God has gently healed my fears and scars. He showed me that I’m worthy in His eyes and has helped me nurture this little talent I have.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know how to read music to join?
Not at all! Many of us started without reading music. If you have the heart to sing for the Lord, we’ll guide and support you along the way.
I’ve never sung in a choir before. Can I still join?
Absolutely! Whether you’re a total beginner or someone who’s been singing for years, you are most welcome. What matters most is a willingness to serve and grow together.
Is there an audition?
There’s no formal audition, just a simple voice check to get to know your starting point and vocal range. It helps us understand how best to support you and where you’ll feel most at ease.
When and where are rehearsals held?
Each choir has its own schedule, usually before the Mass they serve. Rehearsals are held in the church, typically in the choir room or designated music space.
I’m shy about singing in front of others. Should I still try?
Yes, definitely! Many of us felt the same way when we first started. Most of the time, the choir sings together from the loft upstairs, so you won’t be in the spotlight.
Only the cantor sings in front at the altar, and even then, that role comes later, only if and when you feel ready. You're never alone, and there's no pressure to do more than you're comfortable with.
Do you serve wedding masses or Christmas carolling?
Yes, some of our choirs do! Feel free to email us at csb.music@catholic.org.sg to inquire.
How can I join or find out more?
We’d love to welcome you! Come chat with any of us after Mass, or reach out to csb.music@catholic.org.sg. You don’t have to be perfect, just come with an open heart.
