Extraordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10

About Our Ministry

An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (ECM) is, under the Code of Canon Law, "an acolyte, or another of Christ's faithful deputed", in certain circumstances, to distribute Holy Communion. The term "extraordinary" is to distinguish such a person from the Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, namely bishops, priests or deacons.

This ministry is not a position of authority, but a humble call to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. In our parish, ECMs not only assist with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass, but also bring the Holy Eucharist to the sick and homebound.

If you feel called to serve as an ECM, we invite you to contact us via email.

A process of discernment and an interview with the Parish Priest will follow.

Testimonials

“As a Communion Minister and a member of the Legion of Mary, bringing the Holy Communion to the sick has been one of the most meaningful experiences in my faith journey. Each visit reminds me of the Visitation—when Mother Mary, carrying Jesus in her womb, went in haste to serve her cousin Elizabeth with love and humility.

Much like that sacred encounter, every visit to the homebound is more than just a duty; it becomes a shared journey of faith. Over time, a bond of trust and spiritual companionship naturally grows between us and the communicants. These moments are often quiet, but they are deeply filled with God’s presence.”  -O.T.

“With face full of wonder and eyes in awe, the little child looked on as mother received Holy Communion at mass — she touched and consumed our eternal God. Both mother and son have taught me what it means to be child-like in faith.” - A.G
