Sunday Canteen Service
Our Mission
Our Sunday Canteen aims to foster fellowship and a spirit of community within our Parish by creating a welcoming space where parishioners can feel a deeper sense of belonging. Over a cup of coffee, tea, or a simple breakfast lovingly prepared by our members, we encourage meaningful connections and strengthen our bonds as one Parish family.
As a ministry, we live out the words of the prayer: “Lord, make us instruments of Your love, that through our service, others may encounter Your presence.”
About Our Ministry
The parish canteen is located conveniently in the Parish Centre behind the Church building. Parishioners and visitors regularly drop by before or after Mass to relax and enjoy a delicious breakfast lovingly prepared by parish volunteers.
Here, many make new friends, chat, and sip coffee or tea while children attend Sunday School. It is a place where faith and fellowship meet — a place to nurture a greater sense of belonging as one community.
What We Do:
-
Weekly Service Teams: Each week, a different team prepares food (lovingly cooked or purchased) and drinks to serve in the canteen.
-
Traditional Coffee & Tea: Volunteers learn to make kopi tiam–style coffee and tea the traditional way.
-
Hospitality & Fellowship: We serve with a smile, connect with parishioners and visitors, and build lasting friendships.
-
Support Parish Life: We also prepare supper for all the hardworking priests during Reconciliation Nights and Penitential Services.
-
Faith in Action: By serving together, our members grow as disciples of Christ, deepening their faith through love, service, and hospitality.

Testimonial
Thank you Mercy for roping me into Sunday Canteen and Cat for adding me in this chatgroup , it has been a good 7 months serving in St Bern's canteen. Though I didn't get the chance to meet all of you, but I can see the camaraderie in this group. Every team has been relentlessly dishing out yummy food to the Parishioners. With regrets, I have to take my exit from the group now as I find it hard to balance work, Sunday School and canteen duties, not to mention that my food handling licence is expiring this month. I'll pop by to savour the delicious food after Sunday School. God bless.
